‘Being a white belt is the beginning of a great journey. The  first step into the Goshin Kan traditional karate world.

White light is symbolic of pure energy in spiritual knowing, and a white belt represents innocence, humility and an acceptance to learn. There is no greater place to begin a journey which will be filled with the joy of learning.

In my own journey, Gogen Sensei asked me to start again as my previous system was different to what he taught. It was the best thing for me as it was a journey into the unknown, with a path full of excitement and a road of discovery.

I wish you well and encourage you to never give up – no matter the challenges of learning. Never give in to the ego that tells you that you know it all. Look and relook at what you learnt. Be very mindful of what you do and how you do it.’
